How to Stop and Disable Background Running Apps in Windows 10
If
your computer is running on the new operating system Windows 10 or recently you
have updated your operating system with Windows 10, then you must read on.
There are some fantastic features of this operating system, but Windows 10 also
allows many apps to run in the background. The entire Windows 10 universal apps
or the apps you have installed using the Store have been intended to run in the
background by default, which users mostly don’t know about. The apps run in the
background to keep their live tiles updated, fetch new data, and receive
notifications.
The background running apps
on your OS is using a considerable amount of system resources. They also
consume a lot of memory and may slow down the system, drain some battery power
even if you didn’t open them.
Background running app may
be necessary sometimes, and sometimes they are not. So, it’s better to disable
the apps which aren’t of use. Disabling unnecessary background apps speeds up
your Windows 10 PC and prevents the unnecessary battery draining problem.
To
stop background running apps from Settings of Windows 10
1.
Open ‘Settings’ of your Windows
PC.
2.
Click on ‘Privacy.’
3.
Click on ‘Background apps’ on the
left side.
4.
To disable the entire apps: Turn
off the toggle switch of ‘Let apps run in the background.’ This will disable
the entire apps from running in the background.
5.
To disable specific apps: Turn
off the toggle switch of the particular app you want to disable from running in
the background.
To
stop background running app by using Battery Saver
This is another way to
disable background running apps. If you are using Windows 10 operating system
laptop, you can also turn on ‘Battery Saver’ mode. This also blocks apps from
running in the background. Battery Saver mode is also activated automatically
when your laptop’s battery drops below a specific percent.
To enable battery saver
modes manually go through the following steps,
1.
Click on the ‘Battery icon’ in
the notification area.
2.
And, click on the ‘Battery Saver’
button.
You can also enable battery
saver mode from Settings.
1.
Open ‘Settings.’
2.
Click on ‘System.’
3.
Click on ‘Battery.’
4.
Turn on the toggle switch of
‘Battery saver status until next charge.’
These are the few options
to take control of the apps that are running in the background and help to
conserve power.
